OZEV Chargepoint Grant
EV charger grant for renters and flat owners
If you rent your home or own a flat in Northern Ireland, you can claim 75% off the cost to buy and install a chargepoint, up to £500. It's the scheme most NI tenants and apartment owners qualify for, and a registered installer claims it for you.
75% off, up to £500
on one fitted chargepoint socket, funded to 31 March 2027.

Who qualifies
You can claim if all of the following are true:
- You rent a residential property, or you own and live in a flat or apartment.
- Shared-ownership homes count too.
- You have dedicated off-street parking (your own driveway, allocated bay or garage space).
- You own, lease or have ordered an OZEV-eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
- If you rent, your landlord has given written permission for the chargepoint to be fitted.
Own a home with a driveway instead?
Homeowners with private off-street parking are no longer eligible for a grant. The saving for you comes from a cheap overnight EV tariff, not the OZEV scheme. We'll still get you 3 competitive quotes.

If you have no off-street parking, the On-Street Chargepoint Grant is the one to look at.

Shared car parks, freeholder permission and communal supplies have their own wrinkles. We cover them separately.
EV charging for flats and apartmentsThe conditions to keep in mind
The grant is straightforward, but a few details decide whether you qualify.
The parking must be yours to use
The grant needs a dedicated off-street space that comes with the property. A shared, unallocated car park or on-street parking doesn't qualify (see the on-street scheme instead).
Renters need landlord permission
Because the charger is fixed to the building, your landlord has to agree to it in writing before an installer can apply for the grant on your behalf.
It must be an OZEV-eligible vehicle
You need to own, lease or have placed an order for a qualifying EV or plug-in hybrid. The installer records this as part of the claim.
One socket per applicant
The renters and flat-owners grant funds a single chargepoint socket. If you need more than one, the landlord scheme may be the better route.

Renters and flat owners: your questions
How much is the renters and flat owners grant worth?
It pays 75% of the combined cost to buy and install a chargepoint socket, capped at £500. So if your fitted charger costs £900, the grant covers up to £500 and you pay the rest.
I rent. Will my landlord need to do anything?
Your landlord needs to give written permission for the charger to be installed, because it's fixed to their property. They don't have to pay anything or apply themselves. Once you have that permission, the installer handles the grant claim.
I own a flat. Do I still qualify?
Yes. If you own and live in a flat or apartment with a dedicated off-street parking space, you qualify on the same 75% up to £500 basis. Shared-ownership properties also count.
What if my parking is a shared, unallocated car park?
The grant needs a dedicated space that's yours to use. If parking is shared and unallocated, or you park on the street, look at the On-Street Chargepoint Grant instead, which is built for exactly that situation.
How do I actually claim it?
You don't claim it directly. An OZEV-authorised installer applies for the grant and deducts it from your bill, so you only ever pay the reduced price. Every installer we match you with is registered to do this.
