Who qualifies
The landlord scheme has one extra requirement the household grants don't: you must be a registered business.
- You are a residential landlord letting property to tenants.
- You are registered with Companies House, or you are VAT registered.
- The chargepoints are for residential rental properties you own or manage.
- Each socket is fitted by an OZEV-authorised installer who makes the claim.
Not registered as a business? If you let a single property as a private individual, your tenant may be able to claim the renters grant on their own dedicated parking instead.

The installer deducts each grant from the invoice. Stay within your 200-socket annual allowance and you can phase the rest into next year.

Landlord grant: common questions
How many EV charger sockets can a landlord claim for?
Up to 200 sockets per financial year, each at 75% of the cost up to £500. That makes the landlord scheme the right route if you're fitting chargers across more than one property or a block of flats.
Do I have to be a registered business to claim?
Yes. To use the residential landlord grant you must be registered with Companies House or be VAT registered. A private individual letting a single property without either registration would not qualify under this scheme.
Can I claim for properties across Northern Ireland?
Yes. The grant applies to eligible residential rental properties across NI. Each socket is claimed by the OZEV-authorised installer that fits it, and every install must also be notified to NIE Networks.
Does the tenant need an electric vehicle?
The landlord scheme is about equipping the property, so you can future-proof parking ahead of demand rather than waiting for a tenant to arrive with an EV. Confirm the current rules on OZEV guidance before you apply.
How is the grant paid?
It isn't paid to you as cash. The installer applies for the grant and deducts it from the invoice, so you pay the reduced price per socket. Keep the installer registered or the claim can't be made.
